KMC reclaims 5,713 acres of land from encroachers
Karachi: Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), in a drive against encroachment, on Tuesday retrieved 5,713-acre and 5,156 square yards of encroached land with the help of police and Rangers. In an official statement issued, Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Sheikh said a full-fledge drive against ‘encroachment mafia’ had been launched in the city. He said 147 of such cases had been lodged while 169 arrests made in this connection. He told that one AK-47 and six shotguns were recovered from those arrested. He said raiding team also discovered 23 illegal hydrants. The commissioner said the campaign would continue with the help of police and Rangers. He warned that police cases against encroachers would be lodged under law.
