Road rehab from Garden town to Faisal Town in 2 months

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) will carry out rehabilitation of 1.8-kilometre-long Maulana Shabbir Usmani Road, from Y Junction New Garden Town to Faisal Town Roundabout, at a cost of Rs 166.8 million within two months. Tenders for executing this project have already been invited from contractors possessing their own asphalt plant in or round Lahore, in operational condition, along with the required machinery fleet for mega road construction projects. This dual carriageway, which is currently 24-feet-wide on both sides, will be widened up to 30 feet on the side leading from Garden Town to Faisal Town whereas the side running parallel to the university ground will be widened up to 28 feet. Also, Maryan Chowk junction will be remodelled for easing the flow of traffic and the Faisal Town roundabout will be removed and traffic signals will be installed at this point for the vehicles turning right towards main boulevard Faisal Town. Traffic heading towards Garden Town from Jinnah Hospital will have a signal-free corridor after the execution of this project. Around 200,000 vehicles will benefit from this project
